Strings students showcase skills with winter works

Strings students from both campuses presented a Winter Strings Concert at Swenson Hall Dec. 2, showcasing their progress as they performed a host of winter classics, holiday favorites and engaging medleys. Ian Barnett '23 (violin), Aliyah Cohen '22 (violin) and Alessia Gangone '21 (cello) offered solos.
The night began with pieces performed by the sixth-grade Beginning Strings students and the seventh-grade Intermediate Strings students. The students work under the director of Middle School Orchestra Director Jessica Li.

The Advanced Strings group followed, and included Daniel Amron '21, Barnett, William Brodsky '21, Branden Cabrera ' 23, Jean Pierre Decker '21, Javier Garcon '21, Nikhil Kumar '21, Samuel Lindemann '21, Isabella Marquez '22, Jackson McAliley '23, Frank McPhillips '21, Gabriel Mora '22, Nikhil Seshadri '21, Alexander Van Lidth '22, Justin Wong '21 and Noah Zaldivar '22 on violin; Antonia Awad '23 and Andres Soto '21 on viola; and Mary Logan Woolsey '22 on cello.

The Upper School String Ensemble concluded the night with an engaging finale performed by Sebastian Artze '20, Zachary Buttrick '20, Zoe Sawatari '20, Mercury Sawatari '17, Gabriel Varra-Gonzalez '20 and Donna Zheng '19 on violin; Ashlyn Cowgill '19 and Laura Liu '19 on viola; and Jennifer Lin '20 and Zachary Vuong '19 on cello. 

The students performed "White Christmas," "Frosty the Snowman," "Santa at the Symphony," and the Hallelujah chorus from Handel.
