Awards ceremony honors US students

Ransom Everglades recognized more than three dozen students with special awards while congratulating the entire student body for an excellent 2016-17 during the Upper School Awards Ceremony April 24. "Know that we honor all of you," Head of School Penny Townsend said. "All of you have earned our respect, our affection and our gratitude."
She noted that it would be impossible to recognize every special achievement of the RE student body: "As a group, you've left your mark on the school and individually you have achieved great things – not all of which can possibly be celebrated today ... Paul Ransom and Marie Swenson would be proud, and I know I am."

The special awards included recognition for excellence in particular academic or artistic pursuits, service, leadership, spirit and overall accomplishment. Students who received individual awards were summoned to the stage by Head of the Upper School Ken Mills or the chair of the relevant department. The school also recognized the newest members of the Cum Laude Society.

Founded in 1903, Ransom Everglades School is a coeducational, college preparatory day school for grades 6 - 12 located on two campuses in Coconut Grove, Florida. Ransom Everglades School produces graduates who "believe that they are in the world not so much for what they can get out of it as for what they can put into it." The school provides rigorous college preparation that promotes the student's sense of identity, community, personal integrity and values for a productive and satisfying life, and prepares the student to lead and to contribute to society.
