Raiders advance to regional semifinal with strong performance
Senior Sofia Rua '24 put together a special performance with two goals and one assist as the Raiders defeated Carrollton for a third time in three weeks to advance to the regional semifinal against Thomas Edison High School this Friday at 3:30 p.m. Sophomore Stella Colombo '26 added two goals and junior Anna Lavernia '25 rounded out the scoring with a goal of her own on a beautiful header off a corner kick. Defensively, the Raider backline was outstanding led by senior Mackenzie Buckner '24, Kenzie Connell '26 and Avery Almazan '26. Raiders advance to district final in thrilling fashion
Senior goalkeeper Juju Perez Rivera '24 came up with her best performance of the season when her team needed it the most, stopping three of four penalty kicks in sudden death in a 2-1 victory over Westminster Christian. With the Raiders down 1-0 on an early goal, sophomore Avery Alamazan '26 found fellow sophomore Stella Colombo '26 late in the first half on a terrific cross into the box to even the score. Despite the Raiders dominating time of possession and shots on goal which included two off the post, the team could not find the back of the net in the second half or overtime setting up a best of five penalty kick for a spot in the district championship. Sophomore Olivia Geller '26, senior Sofia Rua '24, and sophomore Stella Colombo converted their attempts and goalkeeper Juju Perez made three big saves to send the Raiders through to the final. The team will get back to the practice field today as they gear up for the district championship match this Thursday vs Carrollton. Raiders inch closer to top district seed with victory over Carrollton
Senior Sofia Rua '24 led the way with two goals including the game winner late in the second half as the Raiders notched their ninth win of the season defeating Carrollton 4-3 in a highly competitive match. Sophomore Johanna James '26 and junior Anna Lavernia '25 rounded out the scoring for the Raiders. Before kickoff the Raiders honored a special senior class that included Carolina Font '24, Juju Perez '24, Andrea Paniagua '24, Mackenzie Buckner '24, Isabel Chong '24 and Sofia Rua '24. Raiders defeat Gulliver Prep 5-0
Sophomore's Stella Colombo '26 and Johanna James '26 each had two goals and an assist as the Raiders held serve on their home field with a convincing 5-0 victory over Gulliver Prep. Senior Sofia Rua '24 added a goal and an assist to round out the scoring for the Raiders. Freshman Camila Bercum '27 assisted on two of the five goals and provided the Raiders with strong midfield play. Defensively, the Raiders extended their shutout streak to 160 minutes behind strong play from sweeper Mackensie Buckner '24 and defensive back McKensie Connell '26. The victory moves the team to 6-1-2 on the season and in strong position in the FHSAA rankings as they head into end of semester exams. Senior Isabel Chong '24 led the way with her first career three goal game as the Raiders dominated from start to finish defeating Divine Savior Academy 8-0 on teacher appreciation night. Junior Anna Lavernia '25 and senior Sofia Rua '24 added goals of their own to round out the scoring in front of the home fans. Defensively, the Raiders received strong performances from sophomores McKenzie Connell '26, Avery Almazan '26 and senior Mackenzie Buckner '24. Sophomore Olivia Geller '26 converted on a great finish late in the first half to lead the Raiders in a 1-0 victory over University School in Palm League play. Despite chilly conditions, the Raiders put together there best game of the season with a strong defensive effort and timely saves from senior goalkeeper Juju Riviera Perez '24. The victory moves the team to 3-1-1 on the season with key games coming up next week against Divine Savior and MAST Academy.Read More -
Raiders dominate home opener to stay unbeaten
Sophomore Stella Colombo '26 led the way with a four goal performance as the Raiders cruised to a 9-0 victory to open their home slate over Downtown Doral. Sophomore Olivia Geller '26 added two goals and freshman Camila Bercum '27, junior Casey Manno '25, and sophomore Johanna James '26 added a goal each to round out the scoring. From the opening whistle the Raiders controlled the midfield and put constant pressure on the Dolphin defense. Three goals in the first six minutes provided the Raiders with a lead they would not relinquish. Defensively, goalkeeper Ella Crowley '26 picked up her first career varsity shutout. Sophomore Johanna James '26 opened the season in spectacular fashion with a three goal performance to lead the Raiders to a 6-2 road victory over Miami Country Day to open the regular season. Senior Sofia Rua '24 added two goals, and sophomore Stella Colombo '26 added one to complete the scoring for the Raiders.
