Portrait of a Ransom Everglades Faculty Member

A Ransom Everglades faculty member inspires wonder and curiosity while engaging students in deep – rather than strategic or surface – learning. A Ransom Everglades faculty member enables students by guiding them to make choices about their own learning and by helping students define problems, pose their own important and beautiful questions, and propose their own solutions. A Ransom Everglades faculty member thinks globally and empathetically and is a mentor while setting clear, high, but attainable, expectations. A Ransom Everglades faculty member takes risks and encourages risk taking, and provides feedback focused on helping students understand where they are and where they should be going. A Ransom Everglades faculty member empowers students as producers and owners of their own learning and is available to students (physically on campus as well as empathically). A Ransom Everglades faculty member wants students to succeed and be happy. A Ransom Everglades faculty member models lifelong learning while contributing to the life of the school and the lives of the students – academic and otherwise. A Ransom Everglades faculty member is invested in the wellbeing of students, colleagues and the school itself.
