    The morning after Ransom Everglades' virtual commencement, members of RE's faculty ventured out across Miami to hand-deliver diplomas to members of the Class of 2020 – adding a personal touch to a spring of social distancing.

    More than 30 faculty members and Head of School Penny Townsend selected seniors they wished to personally congratulate and showed up on their doorsteps on May 23, bearing diplomas, senior awards and, in some cases, confetti guns.

    RE celebrates Class of 2020 at virtual commencement

    Ransom Everglades honored the Class of 2020 on its originally scheduled commencement day with a virtual ceremony that included an address from retired National Basketball Association star Shane Battier P’26 and speakers from Israel and California. The May 22 event offered every element of the 116 previous commencements at RE, only this one was shared via Zoom livestream with the 135 graduating seniors and their families.

    Members of the Class of 2020 waved from car windows, poked out of sun roofs and honked horns with abandon as they drove in decorated cars past cheering faculty and staff – all wearing masks and standing more than six feet apart – on the upper school campus on May 17.
