    Solar panels installed at MS

    The first-ever solar panels were installed at Ransom Everglades during spring break, with 18 panels placed atop the Hogan Building. The panels can generate 5.2 kilowatts of electric power, which will offset a small amount of the campus's power consumption daily while also serving as a learning tool in RE's science classrooms and illustrating the school's increasing commitment to sustainability.

    Lighter backpacks, smarter learning

    For at least a decade, faculty, parents, and even orthopedists have lamented the weight of student backpacks. At the same time, RE and other schools have discussed sustainability and the imperative to reduce paper on campus. And pedagogy has evolved, valuing interactivity and personalized instruction. For those reasons, Ransom Everglades has begun moving away from traditional textbooks and paper notebooks to more digital, portable, and cloud-accessible resources.

    Robotics teams excel at RoboSLAM III

    Ransom Everglades students excelled at the RoboSLAM III Miami robotics event at Miami-Dade County Fair and Exposition Arnold Hall Jan. 12. Adam Kaplan '21 went undefeated and won the 3 lb. division in the BattleBots tournament, and RE’s powerhouse freshman team led by Max Vallone ’22 and Dashiell DeStefano ’22 claimed the Create Award and second place overall in the VEX Robotics Competition. More than 40 teams participated.
