MS students dominate local, regional bees

The RE Middle School geography team – Leo Fein '23, Diego de Lope '23, Daniel Figueroa '24, Mikey Zoi '24 and Henry Berler '25 – went undefeated to win the Independent Schools of South Florida Geography Bee on Feb. 12 at the Women's Club of Coral Gables. Less than a week later, RE middle schoolers scored five podium finishes at the South Florida Regional History Bee and Academic Bee in Pompano Beach.
Under the direction of faculty member Joe Mauro, the geography team posted a 7-0 record and topped Belen Jesuit Preparatory School in the semifinals and Epiphany School in the finals. Fein then won first in the eighth-grade history and academic bees as Figueroa claimed second in the seventh-grade bee and first in the academic bee, and Max Salomon '25 scored first in the sixth-grade bee.
