Junior named 2019-20 SGA President

Preston Edmunds '20 promised to work to make campus life better for RE students, invigorate school spirit and organize novel service projects as the 2019-20 Student Government Association president. Edmunds, who will succeed current SGA President Henry Schermerhorn '19, addressed the Upper School student body for the first time on April 9 during an assembly.
"The Student Government Association is responsible for one big goal," Edmunds said. "Making every single one of you happier than you were the day before. We try to accomplish this in many aspects of student life ... I also want to unite this entire community like never before."

Edmunds served as class president during her sophomore and junior years, roles that positioned her to direct St. Alban's Day in 2017 and this year's prom, which takes place April 27. She also took smaller jobs to heart, such as making sure all of her fellow juniors received brownies on their birthdays during the 2018-19 school year. Next year, she said, she aspires to create new opportunities for class and community bonding, such as tailgates before games and collaborative efforts on service projects with nearby schools.

"I think doing a collab with multiple schools to raise money for a charity would be an amazing way to use our resources for the better," she said. "The potential behind what we choose to do ... is endless."
