Senior wins Congressional Student Recognition Award
Isa Pena '19 received a Congressional Student Recognition Award from Rep. Donna Shalala, who announced the honor during a town hall in Little Havana on May 29. Pena was among five students in South Florida's 27th congressional district to win an Outstanding Student Award.
Teachers across the district nominated students who demonstrated academic excellence and involvement in community service and extracurricular activities. In 2018, a portrait by Aliya Hollub '19 won first place in the Congressional Arts Competition conducted by Florida Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen, earning it the honor of being displayed in the U.S. Capitol in Washington, D.C. for a year.
