SGA room dedicated to Francisco Triana '09
Ludington Room Eleven was dedicated on Dec. 21 in memory of Francisco Triana '09. Francisco's family chose to honor his memory by making a special gift to name the room in which he led Student Government Association meetings as president, and in which the SGA continues to meet.
Family and close friends joined the Trianas at the dedication; Claudia and Enrique Triana are pictured with Enrique Triana '06, Pedro Triana '13 and Head of School Penny Townsend. SGA president Henry Schermerhorn '18 and officers Sarah Rahman '18 and Jake Schwartz '18 also attended. Francisco's classmates plan to pay tribute to him once again as a class during their 2009 10-Year Reunion next November.

Strong in heart and spirit, Francisco Triana exemplified Paul Ransom’s vision of a person who put more in the world than he took from it. A gifted student, a talented athlete, an authentic leader and a caring friend, Francisco elicited the admiration of the entire Ransom Everglades community for his triumphs, and the way in which he achieved them. Ransom Everglades conferred on Francisco numerous awards recognizing character and accomplishment, including the Paul C. Ransom Founder’s Cup, the Mike Stokes Award, the Robert Segall Leadership Award and the Harvard Book Award. He served as Student Government Association president, was a three-letter varsity athlete, and captained both the cross country and track and field teams. After his graduation in 2009, Francisco continued his pursuit of excellence at Harvard University, where he studied economics and French, rowed for the varsity crew team, and immersed himself fully into student life. Shortly after graduating from Harvard, Francisco began ascending in the business world, starting his career as a management consultant before moving into the private equity field in New York City. Though his life was short, Francisco left a long legacy. Respected for his leadership and success, he was beloved for his modesty, kindness and warmth of character. The awards he collected recognized his profound influence on others. He elevated and motivated those around him. He lived out Paul Ransom’s vision, and made everyone who knew him proud.

Founded in 1903, Ransom Everglades School is a coeducational, college preparatory day school for grades 6 - 12 located on two campuses in Coconut Grove, Florida.
