Dear Ransom Everglades Community,
We write to you with great excitement and enthusiasm after an incredible evening on the Ransom Campus. Hundreds of members of the RE community turned out for a very special event, filling the Lewis Family Auditorium to hear from Sir Ken Robinson, one of the world’s most brilliant thinkers on educational innovation.
Sir Ken reminded us that excellence is an attribute we must constantly reclaim and reinvent, providing the perfect keynote for the night’s big news: The launch of REinventing Excellence: The Campaign for Ransom Everglades
It is a thrilling time to be at Ransom Everglades. Our great school is sailing into exciting waters.
We are beginning a wide-ranging revitalization that will transform the Upper School grounds and enhance virtually all of the school’s programs – while preserving more than a century of values and historic treasures. The initiatives Head of School Penny Townsend has crafted since her arrival to RE in 2014 have provided the inspiration and foundation for this sweeping renewal.
As we kick off this campaign, each step forward will energize our curriculum, learning spaces, technology, faculty and institutional legacy. We will soon commence construction of a state-of-the-art STEM Center, which will enhance the learning experience for our students and faculty. We look forward to uniting the Upper School campus with the La Brisa land that we acquired last summer. That beautiful property, which remains in the permitting process, provides the opportunity for a more open, natural campus with sprawling lawns, native trees and dense mangroves.
Sir Ken, whose TED talks on education have been among the most-viewed in the organization’s history, offered affirmation that we have chosen the right path last night. He told us that we have tremendously talented kids, supportive parents and unbelievably committed teachers, but advocated that all schools "rethink" education. "Everything is there," he said. "It's about what you do with it."
We couldn’t agree more.
Ransom Everglades has been built on a tradition of academic distinction, community service and environmental stewardship. One of the most highly regarded independent schools in the nation, Ransom Everglades has maintained founder Paul Ransom’s vision of sending out graduates who leave the world better than they find it. To continue this tradition in an ever-changing world, we cannot stand pat.
Every element of the educational experience at Ransom Everglades must evolve, grow and prosper.
We understand that, and we are moving forward. We are REinventing Excellence
at Ransom Everglades. Please join us on this exciting journey!
