RE speech and debate dominates at home

RE speech and debate coach Kate Hamm earned regional coach of the year honors for the second straight year as four RE students scored first-place trophies at the 2019 Florida Forensic League Art Deco Region Qualifying Tournament Feb. 2 at Ransom Everglades Middle School. More than 40 RE students won invitations to the state championship tournament by finishing in the top seven in their events.
Aidan Murphy '21 and Margaret Dill '21 won Public Forum Debate; Lucas Miner '20 claimed first in International Extemporaneous Speaking; and Alex Dray '21 scored first place in Domestic Extemporaneous Speaking to lead Ransom Everglades.
 
More than a dozen RE competitors of the 61 who participated earned podium finishes. The event on the Middle School campus drew 13 schools and more than 250 competitors from the Florida Forensic League’s region 5. Some 30 students and 20 parents volunteered to help make the tournament a success.
