Math team lands trophies in every event

Ransom Everglades finished fourth overall at the Golden Gate regional math competition in Naples on Feb. 2. For the first time in team history, all four RE teams placed in the top five. Margo Squire ’19 claimed her first individual trophy in statistics while helping RE's statistics team to a third-place overall.
Dylan Tie-Shue ’20 led the fourth-place calculus team that included Donna Zheng '20, Valeria Vela '19 and Jennifer Lin '20Alex Van Lidth ’22 led the fifth-place precalculus team that included Yuhan Liu '21, Jonah Bennett '21 and Kareena Rudra '20; and Nikhil Kumar ’22 led the fifth-place geometry team that included Victoria Porto '22, Kerryn Xu '22 and Rafael Dovarganes '22.

Besides Squire, the statistics team included Benjamin Thorpe '20, Isaac Szomstein '20 and Zachary Buttrick '20. Math team coach Karen Key guided the group, which included a number of first-time participants.
