Search for Lindsay Gould ’21 on the Ransom Everglades campus during an off period and you will find her in one of two places. The field or the weight room.

“Lindsay wanted to be great from the moment I met her,” said RE’s Head Strength and Conditioning Coach Victoria Druehl. “She has never taken a day off from developing her talent and she is deserving of every accolade that has come her way.”
Gould, who scored 72 goals and 39 assists in 65 games with Ransom Everglades girls’ varsity soccer team dating back to eighth grade, will take her talents to Brown University in the fall. She earned athletic and academic all-state honors from the Florida Athletic Coaches Association for two straight years, and has stood out on RE’s soccer fields since she arrived in sixth grade.

Soccer coach Michelle Mondell coached Gould in middle school and during her junior and senior years of high school. As a pre-teen, Mondell said, Gould’s small stature belied her advanced playmaking abilities.
“When I first saw her play, she was tiny, but her skillset was beyond,” Mondell said. “She fell in love with the game more and more, and she did the work – through middle school, high school, and the [US Soccer] Olympic Development Program.”

Gould played soccer year-round, and also honed a new skill, using her free periods and lunch break to practice kicking extra points and field goals on Walker field. Gould could eventually make kicks from distances of 40 to 45 yards. She caught the attention of RE football coach Roger Caron and soon earned the respect of the entire football team as she secured her place in Ransom Everglades athletic history.

She won a spot on the fall roster, and when the time came to attempt an extra point in a game, she put it right through the uprights, becoming the first female to score a point for the Raider football program. She kicked extra points in fall 2020. “One of the reasons I went out for the football team,” she said, “was to set an example to all those other girls and show them that nothing is impossible.”
