The evening concluded with a video tribute to De Angulo, who will be leaving Ransom Everglades after 19 years to become Dean of Men at his alma mater, Belen Jesuit. Assistant Director of Athletics Pat Houlihan and Associate Athletic Director Christine Peluso presented De Angulo with a crystal award, and faculty member and coach Robert "Doc" Crabtree read a letter on behalf of De Angulo, who was too emotional to read it himself. At Ransom Everglades, De Angulo also served as assistant athletic director and boys' and girls' varsity swim coach.
"Thank you for your heart, leadership, passion, dedication and commitment that led our Ransom Everglades athletics teams to 19 years of excellence," Peluso said. "Your RE family will never forget you."
The event also recognized all of the senior athletes in attendance and honored 21 student-athletes who plan to continue playing sports in college: Josh Angel '18 (swimming/water polo, Worcester Polytechnic Institute); Erin Bakes '18 (lacrosse, University of Southern California); Sydney Bent '18 (volleyball, University of Notre Dame); German Giammattai '18 (soccer, Amherst College); Raleigh Goldberg '18 (football, Denison University); Falyn Goldstein '18 (rowing, Lehigh University); Matthew Jackson '18 (baseball, Illinois Institute of Technology); Isabel Malloy '18 (cross country/track and field, Wheaton College); Hunter Matson '18 (soccer, Bucknell University); Antonio Mora '18 (tennis, Emory University); Tiffany McBrayer '18 (soccer/softball, Sarah Lawrence College); Will Miller '18 (football, Chapman University); Jake Pearson '18 (water polo, Johns Hopkins University); Ines Pinilla '18 (rowing, Massachusetts Institute of Technology); Reece Ritzenthaler '18 (lacrosse, University of Colorado at Boulder); Madeleine Sharp '18 (sailing, Dartmouth College); Matthew Simko '18 (swimming/water polo, Brown University); Felipe Urrutia '18 (swimming, University of Chicago); Tucker Weed '18 (sailing, Brown University); Andrew Weissmann '18 (lacrosse, George Washington University); Julian Zighelboim '18 (soccer, Northwestern University).
