Student-musicians receive all-state recognition

Three students-musicians at Ransom Everglades qualified for prestigious Florida All-State Ensembles that will perform in Tampa January 11-14 at the Florida Music Education Association Professional Learning Conference. Morgan Williams ’26 (string bass) was named to the Florida High School Honor Band; Gillian Carvalho ’29 (violin) earned a spot on the All-State Honors Orchestra; and Alyssa Wang ’30 (violin) qualfied for the Middle School All-State Symphony Orchestra. 
The student-musicians train, perform and compete under RE Strings Music Director Scott O'Donnell and Director of Instrumental Music Jon Hamm. Williams performs as the principal string bass in the RE Symphony Orchestra and Combined Symphonic Band, and on electric bass for the RE Combo. Carvalho performs as principal second violin in the Advanced Chamber Ensemble, RE String Quartet and RE Symphony Orchestra. Wang plays violin in the Advanced String Orchestra Class at the middle school. 
 
The all-state ensembles represent an important part of the FMEA Conference, which annually draws nearly 11,000 students, teachers and parents.
