Novices score at speech and debate
Noah Gold '22 and Zach Marcus '22 helped Ransom Everglades to unprecedented success at the Florida Forensic League Novice State Championship for speech and debate April 6-7 by winning first place – the first victory ever at the championship for a team from RE – in Public Forum Debate.
RE also got top finishes from Alexandra Henriquez '22, who finished third in Dramatic Interpretation of Literature; Paisley Verea '22 and Lauren Zanarini '22, and Katerina Ortega '22 and Ana Martin '22, who were fourth and sixth, respectively, in Duo Interpretation of Literature; and Dashiell DeStefano '22, who finished eighth in Congressional Debate.

More than 40 RE students competed at Nova High School in Davie as more than 20 varsity students helped with judging. For the first time, RE competitors advanced to the elimination rounds in every event in which students competed. All of the students worked under RE faculty member Kate Hamm.
