Monumental staircase reaches conclusion

Workers put the final touches in mid-October on the framing of the monumental staircase at the front of the STEM Center as they simultaneously put in place a concrete-block projection screen adjacent to the steps. The pouring of concrete onto the staircase in the coming days will mark a significant milestone in the construction of the three-story complex that is scheduled to open in the first quarter of 2020.
The staircase will provide outdoor performance seating and a grand entry to the center. The projection screen will be available for displaying movies or important announcements.

Workers also began digging and framing the reflection pond in the front of the center, as they reached the final stages of the installation of the glass-panel windows.

In other news, a contractor began designing the photovoltaic roof that will bring solar power to the center, and the polished floor for the center was selected.
