RE teams win top places at MCDS Hackathon

The Ransom Everglades Programming Team topped the field for the third straight year at the 2019 Miami Country Day School Hackathon Design Challenge, with RE teams bringing home first and second prizes in the senior event. Yuhan Liu '21 and Gaurav Gajavelli '22, won the competition, and Jared Gardner '21, Theodore Ma '23, James Furniss-Roe '23 and Dadly Leon '23 finished second.
Liu and Gajavelli used Java processing to create a driving simulation that allows teens to study for the Department of Motor Vehicles permit test. The second-place team created a Megaman-inspired platform fighting game. Prizes awarded at the Garner Center for Innovation included 3D-Printed trophies, Amazon gift cards and a smart video car kit.
