Middle school toy drive benefits nearly 100 children

Nearly 100 Coconut Grove children roamed through aisles of donated toys and books at Christ Episcopal Church, selecting favorites at the annual Ransom Everglades Middle School holiday giving event on Dec. 7. RE students donated the items and then volunteered, setting up the toys and escorting the visiting children.

The event concluded with a raffle of more than 10 bikes and other large items. Members of the girls’ middle school soccer team helped deliver the toys on Dec. 6. Many parents assisted with the set up and clean up.
 
Started by former teacher and admission official Betty Park and Carlos Medina 30 years ago, this Ransom Everglades Middle School tradition has been continued by faculty members Maria Eugenia Abrante and Ramona Miller. The many volunteers included:

Founded in 1903, Ransom Everglades School is a coeducational, college preparatory day school for grades 6 - 12 located on two campuses in Coconut Grove, Florida.
