Young talent featured at US Chamber Orchestra Concert

New faces and young talent highlighted the Jan. 8 Upper School Chamber Orchestra Concert at Rehearsal Hall, a winter strings showcase that offered the debut of seven freshman musicians and director and new performing arts teacher Scott O'Donnell. Photo Gallery
The expanded upper school chamber orchestra featured 18 underclassmen, four juniors and no seniors. The students played Tchaikovsky's Overture to 1812 and three pieces by O'Donnell: String Fantasy, My Mother's Love and Western Skies.

O'Donnell, who prior to arriving to RE served as principal violist with The Symphonia at Boca Raton and assistant principal/principal violist with Florida Grand Opera, grabbed his viola and joined the students for the finale. He also introduced his mother Marian, the inspiration for the third piece; she waved from the front row. That piece featured RE singers Maddy Bagnall '21, Megan Diston '21, Jamie Lockhart '21 and Alex Prio-Touzet '21.
