Math team earns top finishes in Naples

The upper school math team earned fourth overall at the Golden Gate Region 5 February Regional 2020 in Naples, Fla., Feb. 1, as two juniors – Viviana Vela '21 and Yuhan Liu '21 – claimed top-10 individual finishes and teams in statistics, calculus and pre-calculus each finished in the top four in their events.
Vela and Liu finished seventh and 10th, respectively, in the statistics competition to give the statistics team a third-place overall. Their total score topped the totals of two teams with four competitors.

RE's calculus team of Dylan Tie-Shue '20, Joseph Gross '20, Sabrina Shipley '22 and Alex Van Lidth '22 earned fourth place, and the pre-calculus team of Nikhil Kumar '22, Arjun Badwall '23, Dylan Stone '22 and Guarav Gajavelli '22 also claimed fourth. 

Many other students contributed. A week before, RE finished sixth at the AHS-FAU-BC Region 5 January Regional 2020 led by a sixth-place finish from the pre-calculus team of Kumar, Badwal, Gajavelli and Rafael Dovarganes '22 and a seventh-place finish from the statistics team of Vela, Liu and Nikhil Seshadri '21
