Volunteers make Ransom Everglades stronger

Ransom Everglades benefits from the time and talents of more than 500 volunteers each year. Whether serving in formal volunteer roles or as occasional helpers, their contributions elevate RE programs while building a phenomenal community in support of the school.
Recently, more than 40 parents volunteered in various capacities for our Grandparents and Special Friends Days on both campuses. From assembling folders and checking guests in, to taking photos and helping guide grandparents around campus, they were wonderful ambassadors who helped connect RE with families in a meaningful way. We are also grateful to our Grandparent Co-Chairs Eugene and Suzie Sayfie, and Toby Ansin. They drew from their families’ decades-long legacies at Ransom Everglades to graciously welcome more than 500 guests for a special day with students.

Parent grade teams for The Fund for Ransom Everglades have been hard at work all year, encouraging philanthropic support for the school from all of our families. Currently, overall parent participation is 57 percent with eighth-grade parents leading the way at 70 percent! All of these volunteers play an important role in the life of Ransom Everglades because their efforts help provide the resources that make our students’ RE experiences extraordinary.

On February 20, dozens of RE alumni in Coconut Grove and around the world helped make our fifth annual Raider Day of Giving a success. Their enthusiasm spurred 336 donors to give more than $106,000 in 24 hours. A total of 64 classes from 21 states and seven countries participated!

On March 2, four alumni panelists judged student plans in the 7th Annual RE Business Challenge. They brought a wealth of professional business experience to the process, critiquing and guiding students as they vied for a chance to advance to the Innovate South Florida competition.

This weekend, we can all party for a purpose at the Boho Beach SoiREe thanks to our RE Parents’ Association and an amazing Auction Fundraiser committee. This team has dedicated countless hours to ensuring that our community has a fabulous night of delicious food, exciting auction items and live entertainment, all in support of RE’s financial aid program. If you are not able to join us, you may still bid on the unique array of auction items online.

We are so grateful for our volunteers! They personify the joyful spirit of giving back that makes our community so special.

See you on the dance floor!
