Raiders win on walk off single to move to 1-0 on the season

Freshman Sofia De la Torre '24 in her debut as a Raider, had the game winning walk off single in the bottom of the 7th with two outs to lead the Raiders to a 14-13 victory over Carrollton on opening night.  Sophomore Leah Maduro '23 led the Raiders on the mound in a complete game effort that included 17 strikeouts.  Senior Emma Rosenthal '21 contributed in a big way at the plate going 3 for 4 with two runs scored, and sophomore Alice Ochi '23 added three hits of her own, including an RBI double.  In a game that went back and forth, it was the Raiders that came up with clutch at bats at key moments leading to a walk off victory.  The Raiders (1-0) will get back to the practice field today as they gear up for Mater Lakes High School Friday evening. First pitch is scheduled for 5:00 pm at the Boys and Girls Club of Miami.
