Seven RE teams qualify for robotics regionals

After an unusual season of mostly remote tournaments, two Ransom Everglades middle school robotics teams and five from the upper school qualified for exclusive regional competitions: the South Florida VEX-IQ Middle School and VRC High School Regional Championships, which take place in mid-April. The teams qualified based their performances in remote skills competitions and, in the case of the upper school students, at a pair of in-person events.
The middle school qualifiers, team 2045R and team 2045A, ranked seventh and 10th in the region, respectively. The teams qualified based on their skills scores for programming and driving; they were judged from recorded video submissions. Those teams, whose members are listed below, train under faculty member Gus Palacios.

RE's upper school teams were helped by their performances at the February 27 VEX Robotics Competition Change Up Tournament at Banyan Air; there, RE's "The Squad" won the Innovate Award, the "Raiders" won the Think Award and "Dark Matter" won the Amaze Award. Those teams and two others qualified for regionals; they train with faculty member Bob DuBard.
