Five soccer players named first-team all-county

Five Ransom Everglades soccer players – Mia Balestra '21, Jasper Broad '22, Lindsay Gould '21, Danny Mendoza '21 and Juan Rivera '22 – earned first-team all-county honors for winter sports from the Miami Herald, which recognized 18 RE soccer and basketball player in its annual winter sports honor roll. Balestra, currently competing in track and field, also earned first-team recognition from the Herald in volleyball in the fall. See the newspaper's report here.
Balestra, Gould and Mendoza are planning to continue their athletic careers at Dartmouth College, Brown University and the University of Chicago, respectively. Balestra, a defender, scored four goals and had five assists; Gould, a forward, scored 19 and totaled 14 assists; and Mendoza, a forward, scored 16 times with six assists. Rivera, a midfielder, scored one goal and had three assists; and Broad, a goalkeeper, had nine shutouts and a 0.77 goals against average.
