Clutch hitting sends Raiders to SFBC championship game

Sophomore Nicholas Rubino '23 produced a two RBI single in the sixth inning of a 4-3 game, and senior James Srebnick '21 followed that with a three run double to break the game open and give the Raiders a 9-3 victory over Miami Country Day in the South Florida Baseball Conference semifinals. The Raider bats got going early with a pair of back to back homeruns by senior Emmett Gershman '21, and sophomore Nicholas Rubino '23 to break a 1-1 tie. With the Raiders leading 3-1 in the fifth inning it was the web gem by sophomore Justin Saphier '23 that preserved the lead. Junior Thomas Fischer '22 showed a great deal of toughness on the mound as he battled through six innings and put the Raiders in a position to advance to the title game which will take place at Miami Country Day tomorrow evening at 7:00 PM. The Raiders will be the road team as they face the top seeded Bulldogs of Riviera Prep in what should be a highly competitive title game.
