RE's college counselors meet with senior parents
Ransom Everglades’ College Counseling Office met virtually with senior parents on September 1 to provide information, reminders and reassurance as their children refine their college lists and prepare for early application deadlines. Dozens of parents attended the Senior Parent Night, one of many offerings designed to help members of the Class of 2022 and their parents navigate the college process.
“We’re excited about the upcoming year,” Director of College Counseling Lew Stival told parents during the event. “We’re ready. I know our kids are ready. We’re looking forward to all the support you can provide us and your children as we move forward.”
Stival was joined by counselors Daniel Creasy, Aleny Garcia, Claudia Jolivert and Roger Caron. The office reviewed key elements of the months ahead, discussing the parent-counselor-student partnership, test-optional schools, essays and supplements, financial-aid and early application deadlines, and other elements of the college process. They also took questions.
College counselors also gathered on campus with the senior class during the mid-day break on September 3, launching a series of Friday College Counseling Senior Workshops. The office is also teaming up with RE alumni to offer Alumni Mock Interviews to seniors on September 19, and arranging for admission representatives from various universities to visit campus in the coming weeks.
College counselors will also help seniors celebrate the deadline for early applications by hosting a Submit-athon on October 24.
"These next few months are going to be very busy, but I also think they are the most exciting," Stival said. "We're all in this together, and we're excited about the next stages."
