RE parents study up on financial aid
Ransom Everglades parents received guidance on how to navigate the college financial aid process during a remote meeting hosted by the school's college counseling office on October 14. Chanell Thomas, the Associate Director of Financial Aid and Scholarships at Vanderbilt University, provided an in-depth remote presentation on the financial aid process, covering topics ranging from sources of aid, applying for aid and schools' varying approaches to financial aid. At the end of the session, she took questions.

Thomas advised families to spend time learning about the various aid options available to them. "That first year," she said, "apply for everything, and let us tell you no." RE's Director of College Counseling Lew Stival agreed, noting that he had found schools willing to be creative with aid packages throughout his career.
"If there is one thing I've learned about financial aid, it's that financial aid directors at colleges everywhere are really eager to try to help you," Stival told RE families. "They want people to be able to afford to go to school. If you have specific questions per school, don't be afraid to reach out."

On October 24, the office hosted its annual Senior Submit-athon, a fun event at the upper school designed to encourage seniors to finish and file their early applications, and celebrate the end of that process.
