Band students excel at music performance assessment

Ransom Everglades upper and middle school band members combined to earn 39 superior medals at the Florida Bandmaster Association District 20 Solo and Ensemble Music Performance Assessment on November 12 as two juniors – Leah Maduro ’23 and Lena Zide ’23 – qualified for the state music performance assessment.
Twenty-two upper school band members performed at the assessment under the direction of performing arts faculty member Jon Hamm, collecting 20 superior medals. Events included six solos, two trios, two quartets, and a quintet. 

Thirteen middle school band students also participated in 19 events – 13 solos, two duets and two trios. All of the soloists received superior ratings, and RE collected 19 superior medals. Three ensembles performed for comments only. The students trained and performed under the direction of middle school band director Cathi Leibinger.
