RE sweeps South Florida Winter History Bee and Bowl
Ransom Everglades swept the 2022 South Florida Winter History Bee and Bowl January 22, winning the varsity and junior varsity bowls and the varsity and JV bees as an RE middle school team finished second in the JV (high school) bowl. Under the direction of RE coaches Joe Mauro, Branly Fontaine and Abby Berler, RE students won a total of seven top-three medals at annual competition at the upper school.
The varsity team of Javier Kumar '22, Leo Fein '23, Jack Touby '23 and Max Wiesenfeld '23 won first place in the varsity bowl, as Fein claimed first in the history bee. The junior varsity team of Daniel Figueroa '24, Eric Gross '24, Chase Dubovy '25 and Liam Forand '24 also won first place, with Figueroa snagging the trophy in the JV bee. He topped middle schooler Parker Jelke '27 and Dubovy, who finished second and third, respectively.
RE's middle school team of Jelke, Lucas Gonzalez '27 and Zach Corbin-Cheah '27 finished second in the JV bowl, losing only twice to the RE JV team. And another RE middle school team of Patrick Keedy Brown '26, Aarav Jindal '26, Jaz Puri '28 and Jack Gonzalez '28 finished fifth overall.
