Three Raiders score first-team all-county honors

An eighth grader and a freshman were among the three Raiders awarded first-team all-county honors for fall sports by the Miami Herald in the newspaper’s annual rankings, as more than two dozen students earned recognition. Felipe de Cardenas ’22 earned first-team honors in cross country, Angela Jiang ’26 in golf, and Julia Lewkowitz ’25 in volleyball.
Cardenas won two straight district titles in the boys’ 5,000 meters and finished 14th in the state this past season. Jiang had the second-best scoring average in the county and tied for 32nd in the state. Lewkowitz, collected 253 kills, 150 digs and 82 service points for the Raiders, who advanced to the regional semifinals.

Eight Raiders – volleyball player Elise Echarte ’23; golfer Jackson Langer ’24; and swimmers Lauren Heller ’22, Alexa Hommen ’22, Kiera Rampersad ’25, Sabrina Shipley ’22 and Dylan Stone ’22 – claimed second-team honors. Football player Levi Gans ’22 scored third-team recognition. A dozen others won honorable mention awards. See the full list below.

In other news, RE football coach Roger Caron was named Coach of the Year by the Florida Independent Football Conference for the second time as Raider quarterback Nick Rubino '23 earned Player of the Year honors. Rubino, Andy O'Brien 22, Gans and Jack Rivas-Vazquez '22 were named first-team all-conference honors, and Caleb Carlson '22 was recognized for special teams and Gans for his efforts as a scholar-athlete. Gabe Alencar '23, Ryan Courey '23 and A.J. Srebnick '23 won second-team mention and Brendan Dyke '23 and Trent Mopsick '23, third team.
