Top strings students highlight upper school concert

Ransom Everglades' Advanced Chamber Ensemble and Advanced String Quartet headlined an exciting night at the Posner Lecture Hall under the direction of Strings Music Director Scott O'Donnell. RE's top strings students performed a range of well-known pieces with impressive precision and expression, delighting the audience at the Upper School Strings Concert on February 15.

RE's String Orchestra kicked off the evening playing Pachelbel's Canon in D along with String Quartet No. 1 (movement 2) from Tchaikovsky and Galop Infernal from Offenbach. The RE String Quartet followed with Hayden's Quartet Op. 2, No. 2 in Eb major. 

The Advanced Chamber String Quartet played Mozart's Divertimento in F major K. 138, and the Advanced Chamber Ensemble ended with four pieces: Palladio by Jenkins; Cavalleria Rusticana by Pietro Mascagni, The Code by Alan Lee Silva; and Simply Symphony, movements 2, 3, 4 by Benjamin Britten.

Founded in 1903, Ransom Everglades School is a coeducational, college preparatory day school for grades 6 - 12 located on two campuses in Coconut Grove, Florida.
