Sixth grader prevails on pi day

Israel Garcia ’28 won the RE middle school's annual pi recitation contest, correctly rattling off the first 115 digits of π on March 17 (the event was originally scheduled for March 14 – the actual pi day). Aarav Jindal ’26 came in second, achieving 99 correct digits; Charlotte Mark ’26 finished third, reciting 80 digits; and Sawyer Nelson-Montet ’28 finished fourth by correctly reciting 60 digits. The contestants received chocolate chip pies and the audience enjoyed chocolate-chip cookies. Middle school math teachers Greg Siegler, Alina Mendoza and Grace Gonzalez organized the event.
