RE rings in the Persian new year with dance

RE's Persian and Arabic Students Association introduced the RE upper school student body to the art of Persian belly dancing during a March 29 assembly at the Lewis Family Auditorium in celebration of the Persian new year, Nowruz. A professional belly dancer and Middle Eastern percussionist performed several dances and succeeded in coaxing several students and Head of School Penny Townsend, Director of Inclusion and Community Engagement Wendell Graham '74 and faculty member Jonathan Scholl to the stage.
The professional dancer, Vanessa Romero, and percussionist, Edwin Mora, drew cheers from the student body, especially when dancing alongside RE's administrators. PASA president Mark Tabet '22, vice president Teymoor Siahpoosh '24 and secretary David Green '22 shared a presentation to kick off the day's celebration.
