RE holds social psychology symposium

Ransom Everglades' AP Psychology students explored various current events from the lens of social psychology, presenting in-depth posters at the 2022 Social Psychology Symposium in the Solomon Art Gallery at the upper school on April 9. Upper school students and teachers stopped by throughout the mid-day break to query the students about their work on topics ranging from cancel culture to trans athletes in competitive sports
Under the direction of AP Psychology teacher Jenny Carson '03, more than two dozen students shared their research, which was undertaken in groups of two or three. Their projects were designed to examine how much power people have over their environment, and vice versa. Social psychologists study why the same person reacts differently in different situations, and the students applied that approach to various current events.
