Internet safety for sixth graders

Internet safety expert Richard Guerry addressed the "promise and pitfalls" of social media, gaming and other online activity during a fast-paced and informative seminar for sixth-grade students and parents on Sept. 20. The event, a component of the school's health and wellness curriculum, touched on cyber cruelty, privacy and other topics as Guerry advised students on how to use technology responsibly.
Guerry, the founder of the Institute for Responsible Online and Cellphone Communication, has addressed middle school students at Ransom Everglades for years. Dozens of sixth-grade families were in attendance at the event at Swenson Hall, which included a Q and A.
