Two RE faculty members receive educator awards

RE STEM Department Chair Doug Heller '80 and Dean of the 11th Grade Brandon King received University of Chicago Outstanding Educator Awards for 2022, the school announced Oct. 21. The annual awards, which have been given for three decades, recognize teachers who are exceptional in their fields and role models for students.
Both were nominated by students accepted into the University of Chicago's Class of 2026; newly admitted students were asked to nominate educators who played a significant role in their education, made a positive impact in their lives and whose influence brought them where they are today.

Heller, who teaches chemistry, and King, who teaches economics and world civilizations, will receive a commemorative award, certificate and letter that includes details on their nominations. They will be celebrated at a virtual event on Nov. 8.
