Collections on both campuses put food on Thanksgiving tables

Ransom Everglades' annual Thanksgiving drives helped provide Thanksgiving meals for families in Coconut Grove and Miami. Upper schoolers collected 423 bags of groceries, 14 turkeys, three hams, $640 in cash and checks, and $865 in gift cards for Miami Rescue Mission's annual "pack the pantry" drive, as middle school students filled 42 large containers with Thanksgiving food and grocery gift cards for Coconut Grove families connected with the Frankie Shannon Rolle Community Resource Center.
Faculty member Astrid Dalins organized the upper school drive, as Ali Fisher spearheaded the middle school effort with assistance from Grace Gonzalez, Alissa Hirsch and Vanessa Lopez. Students brought in food items throughout November, and items were delivered a week before Thanksgiving.
