New MS chorus shares the spotlight with string students

RE's new 20-member middle school chorus made its debut at the Winter Concert 2022 at Swenson Hall Dec. 8, leading off a concert that also showcased RE's middle school string ensembles under the direction of Scott O'Donnell. The student chorus sang a selection of songs from the Sound of Music, a pair of Spanish-language favorites, and the classic "Winter Wonderland." Photo Gallery
Faculty member Laura Montes directed the chorus through "My Favorite Things," "Do-Re-Mi," and "Edelweiss." Those selections were followed by "De Colores" and "Tres Canciones de los Elementos," and then "Winter Wonderland."

The middle school chorus was formed this year along with the upper school vocal ensemble, adding a new, vocal dimension to RE's performing arts program under Director of Arts Shawn Costantino. Many of the students on stage for vocal or strings pieces were performing for the first time at Ransom Everglades.

The Beginning String Ensemble, Intermediate/Advanced String Ensemble and Chamber String Ensemble each played a selection of holiday favorites from a number of cultural traditions.
