"The Social Costs of Global Migration"
Alissa Silverman, a managing director for the U.S. Fund for UNICEF, spoke on November 27, 2012, about the organization's mission to fight for the “survival and development of the world’s most vulnerable children and ... their basic human rights.”
Silverman oversees a portfolio of donors in seven southeastern states who collectively contribute over $2 million a year. She manages a Board of Directors and plays key management roles in two major events of the southeast regional office, a Speaker Series that explores issues at the forefront of children’s rights and the UNICEF Experience.
Silverman has traveled to Honduras and Haiti to see UNICEF in action. In addition, she completed UNICEF Training, a two-day session with top leadership from UNICEF about operations around the globe.

Prior to working for the U.S. Fund for UNICEF, Alissa was the Executive Director of Create Your Dreams, a long-term enrichment program for underserved youth in Atlanta. In the nine years she held this position, Create Your Dreams graduated its first students and launched a College Needs Fund to help pay for their secondary education. She currently serves as board president.
Silverman received a BA from Brown University and an MBA from the Goizueta Business School, Emory University.
