Lady Raiders Lose

The girls JV soccer team played an excellent Carrollton team on Wednesday and lost 9-1.  On this day it was the opponent that got off to the strong start and the team struggled to recover.  The girls found out just how good the Cyclones were when they scored their first goal 2 minutes into the game.  At the first water break the score was 4-0 in Carrollton’s favor. The coaches changed formation, the girls chased a little less and became more patient.  Pressing high up the field Ellie Dyke created a turnover. Madison Munroe won the ball, dribbled past a defender then shot the ball low. The goalkeeper partially saved the shot, and Munroe finished with her left foot for the only RE goal.  The team trailed 6-1 at halftime.

The coaches reviewed the new formation and discussed how to deal with such a strong opponent.  At times the team’s patience paid off with turnovers, however the girls couldn’t muster much offense or possession. Carrollton scored three more times in the second half to end the game. Georgia Crosby and Neely Amdur were selected co-MVPs.

Our next game is Wednesday, Dec 12 away at Westminster Christian School.
