The middle school girls basketball defeated Carrollton 36 - 9 in the SFMSC semi final game Saturday morning, setting up a championship game match-up with Palmer Trinity. The previous two meetings with Palmer were each decided by two points - a thrilling overtime season opener at home, and another barn burner a couple weeks later in December. The 2019 conference championship game against the Falcons would be no different. As the clock hit zero, the Raiders found themselves on the good side of the score, once again by only two points.
Notes: The win capped off an undefeated season, the program's second in three years. The only blemish in the last three years was a one point loss to Florida Christian in last year's conference final. Kathryn Serra earned tournament MVP honors.
Seven girls scored in the team's 30-14 win over Carrollton. The win was the Raiders second over Carrollton this year, and the twelfth straight win of the season. They play Friday at 4:00 in the South Florida Middle School Conference quarterfinal game against the winner of Divine Savior and Riviera. The semifinal and final games will be hosted on Saturday at the Ransom Everglades middle school campus at 9:00 and 12:00 respectively.
The girls won their second contest against Westminster and 10th straight overall to remain undefeated. They have two regular season games remaining against Northwest Christian and Carrollton. Both games are at home, Wednesday January 16th and Wednesday January 23rd, respectively.
The girls defeated Riviera Prep on Wednesday to lock up the number one seed in the South Florida Middle School Conference tournament. With three regular season games left to play, the team is still undefeated.
