Sophia Antezana '20 led the way as the Raiders finished sixth at the C-M Cares Tournament hosted by Chaminade-Madonna. Friday's pool play action saw Ransom Everglades defeat St. John Paul Academy and Miami Country Day in straight sets before coming up just short to Cypress Bay (15-25, 27,25,16-14). Mia Balestra '21 and Cami Lindsey '21 had strong performances in all three matches. Saturday came quickly and the Raiders once again proved up to the task with a great victory over Chaminade-Madonna. The Raiders would finish the tournament with a 3-2 record and a top tier finish.
Dani Ortiz '21 returned from injury with a team high 44 assists as the Raiders remained unbeaten in September. The Raiders jumped out to a fast start winning the opening set 25-21. Saint Brendan would return the favor in the second set knotting the match at 1-1. Both teams would trade punches in sets three and four leading to a decisive fifth set. Cami Lindsey '21 and Sophia Antezana '20 would come up clutch with three kills each in the final set, leading the Raiders to a 15-9 victory and a match win. The win puts the Raiders at 3-0 as they head into the CM Cares Tournament this weekend and Chaminade Madonna.
Mia Balestra '21 finished with a season-high 23 kills as Ransom Everglades won a four-set decision (25-22, 25-20, 21-25, 25-22) over Gulliver Prep, Friday night. There was plenty of back-and-forth action throughout the match with the two teams battling through 25 ties and 10 lead changes in the four-set match. In the decisive fourth set, Ransom Everglades built an early lead and carried that lead all the way to the finish. Cami Lindsey '21 came through in a big way with 13 service point and seven digs. Also contributing were Kelli Miller '21 who had 12 digs, and Juliana Williamson '22' with nine kills. The win puts the Raiders at 2-0 as they head into an important match up with Saint Brendan School at home on Wednesday, September 18th, 5:30 PM.
The Raiders put together another impressive perfomance following a victory over Gulliver Prep earlier in the week with a resounding defeat over Palmer Trinity. Led by Mia Balestra and her fifteen kills the Raiders were victorious in four sets. Valentina Londono contributed in a big way with thirty eight assists and Caro Signoret finished with three aces and eleven service points.
