STEM Center and La Brisa

'Innovation and Inspiration'

The Constance & Miguel Fernandez STEM Center, unveiled in August 2020, overlooks a beautifully landscaped quadrangle that is a major center of student life at the upper school. The three-story, 45,000 square-foot, glass-walled center features flexible spaces for innovation and collaboration, and state-of-the-art classrooms, maker space and laboratories. It welcomes students from throughout the campus who are engaging in interdisciplinary work or looking for a comfortable place to collaborate or study. Students gather for events, performances or just to hang out at the Mendelson Family Plaza and Steps, and they use the indoor Posner Lecture Hall for assemblies or large meetings indoors.

In October 2022, Ransom Everglades opened La Brisa, a restored century-old villa on the shore of Biscayne Bay that is the administrative heart of the school. Jonathan Fitzpatrick, Chair of the RE Board of Trustees, described it "as the centerpiece of a verdant ribbon of land Ransom Everglades purchased in 2016." It houses RE's admission, advancement, alumni, inclusion and head of school offices. Enjoy the look on La Brisa below.

Mandira Bose-Nyberg, Dean of the Junior Class and Mathematics & Computer Science Teacher

"We want students to be trained to think creatively, think outside the box... They're bringing their knowledge from engineering, from artificial intelligence, from computer science programming, and we are all working together.”

Introducing La Brisa

Founded in 1903, Ransom Everglades School is a coeducational, college preparatory day school for grades 6 - 12 located on two campuses in Coconut Grove, Florida. Ransom Everglades School produces graduates who "believe that they are in the world not so much for what they can get out of it as for what they can put into it." The school provides rigorous college preparation that promotes the student's sense of identity, community, personal integrity and values for a productive and satisfying life, and prepares the student to lead and to contribute to society.
