Raiders advance to regional final with huge day

The RE girls water polo team played their best water polo when they needed it most defeating Cutler Bay and MAST Academy to advance to the regional finals on Thursday. In game one the Raider offense saw nine different players score goals led by sophomore Lucy Hansen '26 who had a game high five goals. On the defensive end, eighth grader Eleanor Kriplen '28 had eight steals and seventh grader Dottie Spencer-Funchion '29 was terrific in net with a near shutout in the 20-1 victory. In the Regional Semifinals, the Raiders faced district foe MAST Academy for the third time this season.  Despite losses in the previous two matches the Raiders would not be denied, erasing a three goal deficit to advance to the regional final in a 12-11 thriller. Sophomore Syndey Gould '25 was terrific scoring seven goals to go along with five steals.  Defensively eighth grader Eleanor Kriplen '28 had a team high 12 steals and goalie Casey Manno '25 had fourteen blocks including crucial saves late in the fourth quarter.  The team will get back in the water today as they prepare to face Gulliver Prep in the Regional Finals on Thursday, April 11th, at Belen Jesuit Prep at 4:00pm.
