The Fund for RE & Performing and Visual Arts

Thanks to support of the arts, we are able to provide meaningful opportunities that elevate the experiences of our students.

We started two vocal ensembles, one at the middle school and one at the upper school. Additionally, we debuted our brand new symphony orchestra, whose year culminated in the first ever Major Works Concert. In visual arts we are starting a high school digital art class to vertically align with our amazing middle school program, and in dance we’ve added an upper school dance teacher to coach the dance team as well as our new upper school dance class.
“The visual arts program at RE, particularly through the medium of ceramics, has been an essential part of my high school journey. I have discovered my unique artistic style, inspired by the beauty of bubbles, found new ways to express myself, and explored the cross-disciplinary nature of art and science. With the guidance of Mr. Guzman and the support of the RE community, I have been able to pursue my passion for ceramics through all three levels of study and a fourth year of independent study titled Mastering the Hollow Form, culminating in the curation of my own exhibition in the Solomon Art Gallery. I have also been honored to receive recognition in the Scholastic Art and Writing Awards, including a gold key, a silver key and two honorable mentions. More importantly, ceramics has provided me with a creative outlet and fueled my imagination.” – Parker Martorella ’23

“The performing arts have changed my life very deeply, both socially and academically. One of my proudest accomplishments in the performing arts is my participation in Rock 4 Relief, a student-run club that holds performances to raise money for disaster aid or charity. Along with the help of Mr. Knowles, and as vice president this year, I've had the opportunity to organize a show with many different bands. My jazz teacher, Mr. Hamm, is one of my strongest sources of support and inspiration. He has always encouraged my musical ability and helped me grow as a musician.” – Santi Sauceda ’24
