Writing contest recognizes RE students
Sophia Romanov Imber '24 won the grand prize among high school entries in the 2023 La Plume Young Writers' Contest for her piece "Investigative Journalism is Dead," leading the seven Ransom Everglades students who earned recognition in the Miami-Dade County competition. Jordan James '25 earned first place for "City of Mirages," Patrick Keedy Brown '26 scored second place for "What I Would Say to the Ammonite Shell," and Cecile Etzbach '29, Carlos del Canal Fernandez '25 and Garrett Fox '26 each earned Honorary Awards as Henry Berler '25 claimed an Encouragement Award.
The students – taught by English teachers Kira Morgan, Corinne Rhyner, Elizabeth Cornick, Karina Buhler and Elizabeth Anderson – were recognized at an awards ceremony on Dec. 2 at the Coral Gables Museum.

Founded in 1903, Ransom Everglades School is a coeducational, college preparatory day school for grades 6 - 12 located on two campuses in Coconut Grove, Florida.
