String students show progress at fall concert

Ransom Everglades Middle School string orchestra students made their 2019-20 performance debut at the Fall Orchestra Showcase Oct. 4, showing great progress after just a few weeks of strings classes under faculty member Jessica Carrasquillo.

The Beginning Orchestra opened the concert with an arrangement by John Higgins called "Essential Elements"; the Intermediate Orchestra followed with two pieces – "The Haunted Carousel" by Soon Hee Newbold and "The Silver Forest" by Stephen Chin; and the Advanced Orchestra performed "Hidden Passages" by Kathryn Griesinger.

The Chamber Ensemble wrapped up the evening with "Incantations" by Richard Meyer.

Founded in 1903, Ransom Everglades School is a coeducational, college preparatory day school for grades 6 - 12 located on two campuses in Coconut Grove, Florida.
