  • One of several Earth Day activities

    Environmental sustainability activities mark Earth Week

    Ransom Everglades celebrated Earth Week on both campuses with a variety of activities April 21-25 spearheaded by Director of Environmental Sustainability Kelly Jackson and supported by RE's science faculty and student environmentalists. On the Everglades Campus, middle school students participated in the annual Earth Week Festival, which included a performance by the Recycled Orchestra of Cateura from Paraguay, a famous troupe that performs with instruments made from reclaimed landfill materials such as metal, wood, plastic, brushes, forks and spoons. To the delight of his classmates, Liam Kalstone '31 stepped into the role of drummer with the band, while Harper Harris '29 served as interpreter. They also heard from Brazil Indigenous leader, preservationist and activist Arassari Pataxó – who emphasized that small individual actions can promote positive global change.

  • The ninth annual Ransom Everglades Climate Symposium

    Ninth annual RE Climate Symposium celebrates climate solutions

    The ninth annual Ransom Everglades Climate Symposium brought together students, parents and community members to celebrate environmental sustainability initiatives and showcase innovative solutions for a greener future. Described as a "learning extravaganza" by Head of the Middle School Pete Di Pace, the massive event on April 23 featured hundreds of interdisciplinary projects, including from all 168 sixth graders, a zero-waste compostable meal for the RE community and an Eco Fair featuring local climate-based organizations. Founded in 1903, Ransom Everglades School is a coeducational, college preparatory day school for grades 6 - 12 located on two campuses in Coconut Grove, Florida.
